“Forget The Past” (Isaiah 43: 16, 18 – 19; ESV) by Carley Evans

God is able to make a way through the sea; as a matter of fact, He creates a pathway for His people through the Red Sea. God parts the mighty waters so they may flee bondage on dry ground.God declares, “Remember not the former things, nor consider things of old.”

He calls us to leave the past behind. We are not to dwell on past mistakes, past sins, past events, past people. Throw these off as they so easily entangle us in defeat.

God declares, “Behold, I Am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?”

Look for the new. Look for the way God provides through the wilderness. Look for the river in the desert. Look for your freedom in Christ. Do not allow yourself to be bound in slavery. Go through the parted waters, and leave your Egypt behind. Do not look back as Lot’s wife did. Face forward, and walk in the way God directs.
