“Let Your Light Shine” (Matthew 5: 14 – 16, HCSB) by Carley Evans

Let your light shine before others not that attention comes to you, but that it is directed back at its source — the Lord Jesus Christ who deserves all the glory.

If you’ve recently tried to hide your light, the light of Christ which is within you, then you know how difficult it is to remain comfortable under a cover. Self-imposed darkness is the most stifling.

If you’ve recently tired to keep your light just for yourself; if you’ve put yourself in a closet and shut the door, your light shines only for you. No one else benefits from your portion of Christ’s Light. And that portion dims.

A dimmed light is worth very little, providing little reflection of Jesus, our Savior. As Jesus says, “Put Me on a lampstand for all to see.” “Open up the windows of your soul and let My Light glow forth multi-colored and glorious for all to feel.” “Come out from underneath; show off My Light.” “My Light is warm, inviting, soul satisfying. Let Me shine in your eyes.”
